We had a fantastic visit to The Pheasant near Truro. The food was excellent, made with really high-quality ingredients and offering something far more interesting than a classic pub menu. Every dish felt thoughtful, fresh, and full of flavour, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality on offer. The atmosphere was lovely too, warm, relaxed, and welcoming, especially on a quieter day when we could really enjoy the surroundings. A brilliant Cornish pub with great food, friendly service, and a cosy feel. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it!

We visited The Pheasant twice during our stay, and both meals were outstanding. On our first visit, we enjoyed a whole megrim sole served with fresh greens and buttery new potatoes. It was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Our second visit was just as impressive. We started with a salted cucumber salad, a tomato salad, and some delicious sardines. For our mains, we had perfectly cooked black bream with broad beans and crispy roasted potatoes. What really made both visits special was the warm hospitality. Josh who leads the kitchen took the time to come out and chat with us about the ingredients, where they were sourced, and how the dishes were prepared. His passion, knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm for cooking were a real pleasure to see and made the experience even more memorable. Also a huge thank you to the lady who gave us many good recommendations for St Ives! We completely forgot to ask her name when we were talking, but we were so incredibly grateful for her help and local insight. It had made our trip planning so much easier! A big thank you to Josh and the whole team for making us feel so welcome. The friendly, attentive service and relaxed atmosphere matched the exceptional food perfectly. We highly recommend the Pheasant and will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Went here after finding them on Google, little tight getting past the building to park but Plenty of parking at the rear. Menu was a little extravagant but with some assistance with menu options from the more than helpful waiter. I opted for the pig skins and chutney to start which was very tasty. Wife ordered bread and creamy butter. We then both opted for the steak wife had a side of potatoes I had chips. Not kidding you the best chips I think I have ever had. We were fortunate to be there at happy hour. The wife had two margaritas of which were very strong. She loved them. A hidden gem.

Honestly one of the bests meals I’ve eaten out for a very long time, I’m very critical of food and I can’t fault this meal we had at all. We were a party of 8 (I sometimes find quality lacks with large groups in some places) but this was just divine. Every dish was fresh and delicious. The service impeccable as usual. Will definetly be coming back for all our special occasions and the odd treat for sure! Thankyou everyone

What an outstanding pub! The focus on fresh, locally sourced produce really shines through on a well balanced menu written by the chef. We ended up going twice during our AirB&B local stay whilst visiting from Surrey, as once wasn’t enough! From start to finish it was perfect on both occasions. The Oysters (wow to the hot sauce), Scallops, and Mussels were all excellent, and the Onglet steak was a real highlight which we had on both visits (The home made horseradish was to die for), followed by a great wine list ~ the Pouilly-Fuissé was a firm 11/10! A special mention to Holly for such a gorgeous warm welcome and fantastic knowledge of all product. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Cornwall! Such rare, hearty hospitality which is hard to find these days. Thank you. Sian & Jake 😊
