Village Delights

We booked the afternoon tea for 2 people and it was excellent. The sandwiches were chosen from the menu, the scones were large and tasty, and the range of cakes was superb. Drinks were unlimited. The service was friendly and the café was clean and tastefully decorated. My wife and daughter had a lovely time.

We were looking for a light lunch in South Shields close to the hospital area , so searched google & found this lovely little place by chance and we were very happy with the results! Free street parking outside, proper home made food that we like to call " made with love" by the 2 lovely, friendly & helpful girls who run it. We thoroughly enjoyed our own order ( photos provided ) but salivated over everything we saw coming out in other orders! We chatted to locals who highly recommended the full English breakfasts & saw customers come in for the afternoon tea, which looked amazing with gorgeous scone options like chorizo,red onion & red Leicester cheese to choose from. At only £13.50pp with unlimited tea/coffee you can understand why it apparently won the best Afternoon tea in South Shields last year! Our order was 2 pots of tea, a prawn plate salad, a cheese & onion toastie & side salad with crisps, a millionaires shortbread & lemon & white chocolate sweet scone with cream & lemon curd only came to £19.90...unbelievable value! On a non food related note... It has a disabled access toilet & baby changing station, where they even supply small nappies & wipes, bless them . Apparently Village delights are ranked 3rd highest coffee shop by trip advisor but in our eyes it's definitely number 1 and we look forward to returning next time we are in the area.

What a little gem. Delicious hearty breakfast and chocolate treats to die for! Mars bar crispy square was awesome and the chocolate & caramel tiffin (taken home to enjoy later was a game changer). This was the first time I had popped in here (won’t be the last) but what I loved was the stream of what were definitely regulars popping in for their drinks and food to go too - lots of laughter and such a great atmosphere thanks to the lovely staff. Thanks guys!

We had a lovely afternoon tea. We choose our own sandwich fillings, had the choice of 3 scones, a brilliant selection of cakes and a cheesecake. The food was fresh and tasty. We choose the lemon and blueberry scone. It was absolutely delicious. There was unlimited hot drinks The staff were friendly and super helpful.

Can’t recommend this place enough. It’s my go to cafe in South Shields and has been for years. They welcome you like family and whether I’m going alone or with a friend it’s always a lovely welcome. I love to go and work from there with free WiFi, a can of Chepsi (IYKYK 😉) and a Mars Bar Crispie Cake! Food is delicious as well and always accommodating no matter what! It’s a gem in South Shields 💗
