Actress & Bishop

I visited at a quiet time when there was no music on. The service was great. The young lady at the bar was polite and friendly. Beer selection was decent, and it was a nice place to sit and enjoy a pint.

I’ve been to quite a few pubs around Birmingham, but Actress & Bishop has become my favourite by far. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good live music, and a genuinely welcoming crowd. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick pint or spending the whole evening there, it always feels comfortable and relaxed. As someone staying nearby, it quickly became my local. The team behind the bar have always been friendly and professional, and the place has the kind of character that’s becoming harder to find these days. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a proper Birmingham pub experience.

We stumbled across this place whilst out walking … live music early on a Saturday evening! and the atmosphere was amazing… plenty of drink selection and the staff were great too.

Overall its an ok place, the bar staff and actual venue is pretty good. Unfortunately for myself and a lot of others the bouncers attitudes really ruin what could be a really nice local bar. I’ve had to reason with the bouncers far too many times after being approached aggressively. Rather than talking to us on a reasonable level, its always quite aggressive and really unreasonable. One bouncer made my autistic friend lift his leg up to prove that he was ok, yet when we looked at him confused he told him to stand to the side. I had to explain that my friend had autism and the bouncer categorically said ‘any problems i’m coming to you’ Another time it was a group of 5 guys and we were straight up told no to entry, i asked if we could sit on the balcony and the bouncer said yes, i asked if we could get a drink to sit on the balcony. Unaware of the 11pm drinking rule, yet he started shouting at me and again choosing the aggressive and unreasonable approach. I seem to witness or experience a really bad experience with these bouncers with what could be a pretty good bar without these problems. Its pretty authoritarian from them. Overall though, bar staff are lovely and venue is pretty good

Possibly the best pub in the area maybe even in town. Can get super busy on Friday & Saturday. Staff and security always are friendly and welcoming. Haven’t tried the food yet so my review can’t account for that
