Reel Time Events

Reel Time Events provided the bagpiping and whisky tasting services for our wedding on May 16 at Thirlestane Castle, and they added such a special and memorable element to our day. The bagpiper was fantastic and helped create an incredible atmosphere throughout the wedding. He welcomed our guests, played during our ceremony, led everyone to the drinks reception, and then welcomed guests again as we entered the wedding breakfast. It was such a beautiful way to incorporate Scottish tradition into our day, and it was a huge talking point among our guests, particularly our American friends and family, who absolutely loved the experience. My grandmother especially thought it was wonderful and said it was one of her favourite parts of the day. We also chose Reel Time Events for their whisky tasting experience, which was extremely popular with our guests. It was a fantastic addition to the reception and gave everyone an opportunity to enjoy and learn about something so closely connected with Scottish culture. The team were professional, engaging, and helped create moments that our guests will remember long after the wedding. We are so grateful to Reel Time Events for adding such a unique and meaningful touch to our celebration.

The team at Reel Time Events put on the BEST Highland Games Competition for my family reunion of 70 people this summer at the Dalmahoy Hotel. They were incredibly communicative, accommodating and so easy to work with. We loved all of the events and we loved how they explained the history, how they are adapted into the modern competitions and they were thorough in explaining how to complete each event. The bagpipes were HILARIOUS. The whole family had so much fun! Highly recommend!!!!

Roddy provided the Pipe Down band for our physics conference at the EICC in July 2026. As the final plenary, in the top floor Pentland Suite, was coming to and end, the screen lit up and the band came on stage. The audience immediately woke up and out came the phones. The contemporary play list suited the mood and soon the delegates were clapping along. As soon as they were invited to follow the band down stairs to the subterranean Cromdale Hall for the welcome drinks reception, they jumped out of their seats and followed. The performance was completed by a short set whilst delegates took and drink and tucked in. By contrast at the gala dinner at the National Museum of Scotland, a lone pipe played a short, traditional set at the end of the evening. As the piper struck up a cheer could be heard in the dining area. I am pretty sure that the pipers will be a talking point at this annual conference for years to come. Switzerland in 2027 has a lot to live up to!

The team at Reel Time Ceilidh did an amazing job adapting to a NEW concept. We together combined a Karaoke event with classic Ceilidh to create the first CeilidhOKE event. Elaine Tilton came up with the concept, (2500 miles away in the US...) and the RT team and she collaborated to run the first-of-its kind event. The band worked with Elaine and James (the KJ) to have a seamless evening of incredibly entertaining fun. I strongly recommend you consider hiring the RT team for any event!!

Roddy – Our Incredible Piper Hearing Sir Roddy play as we were getting ready was the most magical "wedding countdown" we could have imagined. His joyful piping filled the halls and created an atmosphere that felt both iconic and deeply personal. He was an absolute dream to work with — kind, warm, and genuinely invested in making our day special. Our guests adored him. As a couple traveling from the US, experiencing such a meaningful Scottish tradition firsthand meant the world to us. Roddy went above and beyond (even playing a little Taylor Swift!), and it’s a memory we’ll cherish forever. DJ James – The Perfect Ending to Our Night To close out the celebration, DJ James was phenomenal. We shared a bit about who we are as a couple — not big dancers, more "dance around the kitchen to our favorite soundtracks" kind of people — and he delivered the exact vibe we hoped for. He created a joyful, comfortable, completely us atmosphere in the middle of a castle. It was the perfect ending to an already incredible day. Final Thoughts We highly recommend working with this company. From the heart-stirring pipes to the perfect dance-floor energy, they made our wedding not just an event, but an experience we and our guests will remember forever.
