The Royal Standard

We visited as a group of four. The pie was the highlight of the meal—it was tasty and enjoyable, although it looked like it may have been frozen rather than homemade. The fried chicken was okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. Unfortunately, the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and bacon was very disappointing. The chicken and bacon both had a particular taste that i just didn't enjoy which spoiled the dish. I just couldn't eat it. Overall, it was a mixed experience, with one good meal, one average one, and one that was disappointing.

I’ve had decent food here on a weekday evening but this time it fell short. Salmon was served on jasmine rice cooked until it was basically a block of porridge, with a single raw stem of "tenderstem" broccoli and a couple of withered, untrimmed shiitake. It’s a nice pub, but they should stick to a menu they can reliably cook rather than putting out food that looks like leftovers for over £20.

A friend and I visited the Royal Standard yesterday early evening to eat. We had a cheese burger + fries and a chicken schnitzel + fries. The food was delicious: the burger was cooked to perfection with nice lettuce and gherkins and the schnitzel was perfectly breaded and juicy. The fries were nice and fresh, not greasy or tasting of old oil. Would definitely recommend this pub for a meal. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars for the atmosphere is because the music was quite loud when one was having a conversation. However, the pub has been beautifully refurbished in a pleasant colour scheme.

Visited the pub for the first time this weekend but definitely won’t be the last. Pub has really lovely interiors and cosy feel. The Sunday roast was delicious and definitely better than most standard pubs!

Hosted a party here for 20 schoolgirls just before Christmas, who all had a wonderful time 🙂 the service was top notch and the food was fantastic! We've also had lunch here before, 5*portion, taste and quality. Thanks to the team, you make it hard not to return 😊

Had a baby shower at the Royal Standard in Blackheath and it was perfect 🎉. Everything was done so well, great food, lovely atmosphere, and really nice décor. The staff were super friendly and helpful especially Lanton was an excellent waiter and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the day. Big thank you to the team for helping us make it such a special celebration. Would definitely recommend!

Table 41. Got held for 1hr during the England Semi-Final. First person turned up at 2030 (30mins after their booking) and then kicked us off. It was clear they knew one of the bar staff who they were taking photos with. Asked politely if we could purch our drinks whilst we stood but got told no. Love a good family pub. This is not one.
