First Impressions Discos

We used First Impressions Discos for the first time, for our Oxford Holi 2020 Festival in March this year (before lockdown) after our usual DJ backed out close to the event. DJ Paul Sims had an excellent range of upbeat contemporary Indian music and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly dancing to his tunes. He definitely made a first impression! Totally recommend him.

Truly one of the best nights I've had with friends. Paul provides a great mix of 70's disco music and karaoke. On the disco music: it was a good selection - neither too esoteric or too cheesy. Most people danced to it and people seemed at ease with the mix. Karaoke was fun and he had the right tracks for everything from Human League to Ed Sheeran. He created a non-judgemental atmosphere and managed to gently persuade most people to give it a go (even by singing the occasional track - though not too many - himself). Crucially, he offered tactful advice - I wanted to sing 'Galway Girl' and he advised it was a fast song. I wish I'd listened! Good set of professional kit too. Suggestions? It would be lovely to see him do some 90's or 2000's tunes. Sure: he has a great niche, although occasional experiments can be surprisingly fun. I'd recommend one of Paul's discos to anyone wanting a fun music set-up for an event. Oxford has a distinct lack of karaoke bars, and so we should value karaoke businesses more.
