As a family we like to got out most Sundays for a roast, should of seen the red flag when we walked in as there were only two other people in the dining area waiting for there meal at peak time on a Sunday afternoon. All I can say it was absolute garbage all preheated food the cauliflower cheese was out of a packet microwaved mush! The two chefs that cooked the meal came in the bar after serving, wearing no chef whites sweating like dogs and look like they could of done with a good bath! Stay clear people £80 down the drain .
This place is lovely if you do not order food. When we arrived for our meal the atmosphere outdoors was great, the play area for the children great daughter loved it. The live music was great too, daughter was dancing around even given a maraca to shake to the music. However, when it came to sitting for our meal we were sat in a back room with a radiator on (in 30degree heat), we sat at 6.30 our starters came out at 7pm, the mains didn’t come until 8pm. Most of the mains were burnt, some were inedible. I feel bad writing this as the staff were clearly working hard but it wasn’t acceptable. The manager was very understanding when we complained and left without waiting for desserts.
Enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Golden Pheasant in Etton. A group of 8 of us, we pre-ordered off the festive menu. The menu was so reasonably priced for such high quality, professional food - it is worth more! The food was all presented beautifully, and was extremely tasty. You can tell this chef is highly trained! The entire table said how tasty the food was, and we all enjoyed sharing the vegetables/ accompaniments- it felt like a family Christmas dinner! The service was friendly, thank you so much to our two lovely waitresses Alison and Ashleigh, and the General Manager Suzanne. We loved our festive table with decoration and crackers! Excited to see posters for future special menus and events in the pub too - looking forward to New Year’s Eve and the Tasting Menu evening with Big Bird Catering! Having been aware of the food and service previous years not being so good, it was exciting to see such a good quality food offering, varied menus, and such friendly service. A superb local establishment for all of the outskirts-of-Peterborough villages. Thanks Golden Pheasant Team!
Just had an excellent Afternoon Tea! There was such a great variety of food - sweet and savoury and we were so full that we took some of the cakes home. The Biscoff Cheesecake was delicious. A big "Thank You" to the staff.
Still reeling after what can only be described as an astonishing evening at the Golden Pheasant; for all the wrong reasons! We arrived at 5.30 on Saturday evening. Our order was taken at about 6pm. An hour and a quarter later, we were still waiting for our food. Another table seemingly had the same problem and were told that they’d had issues in the kitchen. We felt we should have been made aware that there was a wait on food, particularly given that we had 3 children with us. Our food eventually arrived at 7.15. My husband’s pie came out first. The rest of us were sat there for another 10 minutes waiting. All of our food was lukewarm. There was no cheese on my son’s cheeseburger so we sent it back. It took around another 15 minutes for it to be returned. When we cut into the burger, it was raw. This is not how a child’s burger should be served. My sister in law had a butter milk chicken steak that was so overcooked she could barely get her fork through it. We’d also asked for condiments when the meals eventually came out. I was handed a bottle of vinegar which can only be describe as vintage, with bits floating at the bottom. We eventually got them when we’d pretty much finished eating. The restaurant continued to fill up despite the clear lack of capacity to get any food out on time and cooked properly. The whole situation was absolutely calamitous. At about 7.45 the waitress (who we felt so sorry for, being left alone to deal with a roomful of disgruntled diners) came in to announce that the kitchen was now closed!!!!! The chef had walked out after an altercation with the waiting and bar staff. There is so much more I could add but given that the manager took half off our bill, I will refrain from doing so. The whole experience was embarrassing. I am perplexed to see the managers responses to various poor reviews saying that improvements have been made, when the quite obviously have not!!! He and his wife actually turned up as we were leaving. Neither of them approached us to apologise, we were simply ignored. Such a shame as we have been coming here for years but we will not be returning.
