Touch the Wild

It was an amazing experience for me on the ‘Photography For Beginners’ workshop with Paul. I couldn’t believe how much I learnt in the space of 4 hours. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about my camera to being able to change the settings to take some lovely photos of Swans, Greylag Geese, Ducks and other wildlife species in that first morning. Paul was a fantastic teacher, making the whole experience interesting, fun, confidence building and inspiring. It has opened up a whole new world for me and I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone considering learning wildlife photography.

Visiting Kenya was a childhood dream and Touch the Wild gave me an experience that exceeded my expectations. I went to Kenya as an experienced portrait photographer and returned home as a storyteller. Paul has a unique ability to teach photography to persons at any stage. His gentle guidance brought my photography to a higher level. The trip was phenomenal and the team of people he works with are the best in their fields. A special thank you to Paul, Isaac, and our drivers for the experience of a lifetime.

I've done 2 workshops with Paul so far, the Hogganfield Loch beginners and the Argaty red squirrels beginners and both were great. Learned a lot from Paul about how to deal with changing light and how to set up the camera for these types of shoots so you have the best chance at capturing what you want. I same away with hundreds of great shots and feel a lot more confident with my camera now. I'm also booked for the beavers at Blairgowrie which I'm really looking forward to. As a female I don't feel confident to go to a lot of these nature reserves etc on my own as they are most often very deserted so meeting up with a few people and also getting the benefit of Paul's expertise is a win win for me.

My husband and I have just done a two day workshop with Paul in Scotland (day one: sparrow hawks and badgers; day two: red squirrels and otters) and I would thoroughly recommend these workshops for anyone interested in wildlife photography. I am a complete beginner with a "baby camera" (the Sony RX10 iv bridge camera) and yet I managed to get some decent shots despite others having much bigger and better cameras. Paul was extremely knowledgeable about everyone's cameras (he must do research in advance!) and gave me some really good tips as a beginner. He was patient, kind and encouraging (as well as being so knowledgeable). Indeed, I had such a good time that I am now intending to book more trips with Paul. Absolutely first class experience.
