I had a great couple of days shooting waves with Mark. We went to some fantastic locations that he clearly knows well. Mark was very knowledgeable, flexible and encouraging. I learnt a lot about getting to the right location at the best time, making the most of the photo opportunities there and some useful approaches to editing. I had fun and came away with photos I am really pleased with. Thanks Mark!
Great weekend of photography with Mark on 9th - 12th January 2026. He provided a lovely little cottage in St Just and Mark picked me up at 7.30am prompt each day to make the most of our time. Mark has extensive knowledge of Cornish beaches, and the best viewpoints to make the most of the prevailing wind and surf conditions, and he was always patient in passing on his knowledge of wave photography. He explained how the dynamics between wind and swell work, which helps in anticipating the types of the incoming waves and for you to be ready for the big ones. I learned a lot. 10/10.
I had an excellent 2 days with Mark chasing waves and photographing seascapes at a number of beautiful locations in west Cornwall. Mark uses his knowledge and expertise to find the best locations with the best light and biggest waves! We covered a lot of ground with Mark driving- which was a relief on the tiny Cornish lanes. We went to Kynance Cove for waves, Botallack for sunset shots and 4-5 other beautiful costal locations. I appreciated the way everything was planned so we arrived with near perfect conditions and all I needed to do was point my camera! Mark is very patient and had a calming influence on my tendency to rush in and just shoot; he provided excellent instruction and suggestions for composition and the best camera settings and also gave me plenty of time to experiment on my own. I learned a great deal and my photography techniques will certainly improve as a result of this experience. My accommodation in a cozy cottage in St Just was delightful and very convenient for all the places we went to shoot. The church in St Just is also well worth a visit! I highly recommend the Storm chasing weekend workshop and the opportunities for 1-1 instruction. I hope to return for more workshops with Mark.
The Wild Seascapes workshop with Mark exceeded my expectations. Mark planned the itinerary around the weather. He was helpful with the camera settings and gave me lots of time at each location to practice and take the shot that I was happy with. We also spent time reviewing the photos and post porcessing. I enjoyed working with him and am already planning to do another workshop soon.
I spent a full day 1-on-1 photography workshop with Mark in July 2023. It was by chance that Wild Seascape had been mentioned in the holiday cottage information and the week before I was able to organise the time. Mark contacted me ahead of time and there was some back and forth about the arrangements also checking my capability and what I wanted to acheive. Setting goals like this in a tutorial are really important and it allowed the workshop to really be tuned to what I wanted to work on. The session was all about being out and photographing - working on some new techniques and composition! After meeting Mark we spent a short time looking at some planning tools, and processing workflows, then headed out in Marks car to the locations. The day ran from 1pm until 10pm (after sunset) and there was sandwhiches, snacks and drink provided. We visited two main locations - St Just and Godrevy and looked at waves, intimate beach scenes and seascape photogtraphy. I really benefited from the discussions on location - talking through the compositional thinking and different ways to capture a scene. We had three seasons in one day and sunset, while not exactly what we wanted, made a great finish to the day. Take enthusiasm and work with Mark on your own goals and you will get so much back. I did this to give my photography a boost and the learnings are still sinking in. If you want to step up with your photography, and find yourself in Cornwall get in touch with Wild Seascapes you will not be dissapointed!
