Just finished a workshop day with David showing us the Salt printing techniques from the early 1800's at the Jo Cornish Gallery. Way back to the beginning of photography and really back to seeing an image appear in front of your eyes on paper rather than the back of a phone or camera. Something magical and mysterious about the whole thing. David was extremely knowledgeable and had a great way of passing it on with explanations, printed notes and most of all - practical experience. I also met some like minded people and was very well looked after by the Gallery with good food and coffee. Came away with a bag of chemicals a few prints from the day and most of all - fresh ideas. Thank you.

David has provided an excellent service from start to finish. The process of working through different ideas and concepts with David has been so relaxed and flexible. The photographs he took are creative and highly professional and were exactly what I was hoping for and more. I highly recommend him and shall be using him for all future projects.

I cant thank David enough for the fantastic set of photos he has produced for our Guest House website. Within a few days of my initial enquiry David visited us over a couple occasions to shoot the photos at a convenient time for ourselves, this was most helpful as it can be quite hard finding suitable days when the rooms are vacant. After a further couple of days the photos were ready and delivered in a few formats, the results are 1st class and they have transformed our website. Would highly recommend 10/10

David Chalmers’ Salt Print Workshop at The Joe Cornish Gallery, Northallerton. Spent a May Saturday with a small group learning how to magic up photographic prints on water colour paper using ‘salt, silver and sunlight’. David’s passion for salt printing resulted in a learning packed day and a great hands on workshop. He enthusiastically covered the history of the process and demonstrated every step so that even a casual photographer and non-chemist such as me found it easy to follow. He was always on hand if help was needed and even though I’d never done anything like this before I managed to produce a print I was pleased with. Expert, materials, lunch, coffee and cake all included in the price at a lovely gallery – would recommend his workshop!
