Arnos Manor Hotel
Arnos Manor Hotel offers a historic setting for wedding events in Bristol. While the historic facade and heritage details provide an impressive first impression, the interior facilities currently require significant modernization to meet contemporary standards.
The hotel provides friendly service and a variety of breakfast options. However, guests may find the dated accommodations and maintenance issues inconsistent with the venue's aesthetic. It remains a budget-conscious choice for those prioritizing location over luxury.

The hotel is well located for the city centre, £10 - £15 in a taxi to centre on a busy night. The hotel itself is becoming a little more shabby sadly, everytime we visit. Rooms: could be cleaned a little bit better. There was a bottle top left on the skirting board area. Bathroom was ok, cups etc looked clean and so were the towels - I always wash the cups anyway before we use them. Bed was comfy and clean. Ironing board was broken and the iron leaked so I had to ring to get them replaced. Once I got through, the replacement set arrived within 10 - 15 minutes, with apologies from the very pleasant member of staff. We didn't eat in the restaurant as the menu was a bit limited, and our friends who did weren't really impressed with the food they received. Bar was being cashed up at at 11, and couldn't get a drink at the bar as we were asked to wait until the tills came on again. We didn't know how long that would be so went to bed. Breakfast - a good selection, but the sausages could be better - too much filling rather than sausage meat. Reception and bar staff were pleasant. Parking £3 per night/24 hours. All in all mediocre.
In my experience the staff were friendly however that’s where the positivity ends. Apart from communal areas the rest of the hotel is extremely dated and in need of renovation the walls are marked/cracked paint falling off, the carpets are disgusting the floor has holes in it you can feel through the carpet, the rooms are hot stuffy and filthy it all smells like that musty old derelict building smell. I get the fact it’s an old building but doesn’t excuse basic cleanliness.
Stay at the Arnos Manor in July. Had to vacate our room early due to a water leak that caused water to pour onto the bed from the room above. In addition to the room issue, the parking is becoming a chore. For the third time consecutive time that I have stayed at the Arnos Monor I have received a parking fine from Parkingeye despite paying for parking at reception when checking in as I should. The notice from Parkingeye is one of those threatening letters demanding payment in 28 days. This type of casual bullying does not worry me, but some people will feel intimidated by such actions and pay the fine even though they have paid at the hotel. I have stayed at the Arnos Manor many times because it is a good price and it does offer cheap parking. But I am now at the stage where I will just pay more to stay at a better hotel with a nicer room and less hassle.
Just stayed here for two nights taken in by the historic facade and on-line photos but I was in for a major disappointment. On arrival the exterior was somewhat impressive and inside there are some heritage details evident. But it stops there as the rooms are tired, dated and shabby. I can’t believe this is what my £274 bill gave me but my room had holes in the wall and the ceiling, peeling paint, worn bathroom furniture through to the black under layer. Couldn’t use a tap as it just rotated and the curtain rail fell down when I closed it.' Reception couldn’t offer an alternative and have no maintenance staff over the weekend! Someone had managed to get the rail back up but I couldn’t touch it as fixings were not secure and the tap was left loose. The room was hot and stuffy with no aircon and the window was jammed shut so no fresh air was possible. The staff were OK and breakfast was the usual fare but until this place has had a complete refurbishment I would steer well clear.
I had never visited Arnos Manor, expecting to be by its stately and historic façade, and being, pleasantly surprised by the welcome in what is actually named Arnos Manor Hotel, Venue & Lounge, a Hotel which only became fully functional in 2026. Worth noting for any other guests thinking of just visiting the bar like me - cash is not welcome (I remain puzzled by the law and specifically "legal tender") and it is card only. In some areas of Bristol this keeps the 'wrong crowd' out. In other areas a cash only policy does the same. Having consumed perhaps too much coffee and Pepsi Max, I opted for a pot of Earl Grey which was friendlily served by a member of staff who did not seem to object to a bit of idle chit-chat. The Hotel is Grade II* listed, and William Reeve, the original owner of the 1760 building was a wealthy Quaker. The Black Castle pub next door (Grade I listed) was his stable block, built from black copper slag—waste from his metal smelting. The full history of the Hotel buildings is too complex for a short review, but what is now the restaurant used to house a convent. A ghost story too. There is a local legend about a pregnant nun who was reportedly bricked up in a wall to hide scandal - discovered after WWII bomb damage! One can only presume the recent Hotel development is driven by business from the nearby HERE buildings. Filled with office firms, tech startups, and creative agencies, ITV News West Country still broadcastimg regional news (branded for ITVX) from studio space on the ground floor. 90210 in miniature.
