Booked in advance for a 70th birthday party. All food was ordered in advance and we were assured that additional staff and food would be available on the day. The carvery ran out of meat and some of the veg before all of our party had chance to get any food thus resulting in around 12 people not having any food!! We were offered food from the regular menu but half of our party had already had their food. Spoke to the manager to express how disappointed we were in the service provided What is the point in ordering in advance if they are not going to take any notice It was then overheard that they had forgotten our booking!!’ Disgraceful and will never visit again!!
Lovely pub and beer selection. There’s a pool table upstairs which we played in the evening while the family sat in the large garden. The last time we had food here it was substantial and well priced.
We booked this restaurant over a month in advance for a very special occasion— 70th birthday meal—but the day was completely ruined by poor management. By around 1pm, the carvery had run out of all the meats and most of the vegetables. Despite having our reservation for over a month, the manager insisted they had ordered enough food. However, another member of staff admitted they had forgotten about our booking, which explains why there clearly wasn’t enough. What made the situation even worse was that they continued selling carveries despite knowing there was no meat left. This was incredibly disappointing and misleading. To add insult to injury, they had to refund our bill of over £150. I can only imagine the embarrassment of having to explain to their senior management why such a large refund was necessary—something that could have been completely avoided with basic planning and competent management. The lack of planning, poor communication, and overall incompetence turned what should have been a memorable 70th birthday celebration into a very upsetting experience. I would not recommend this restaurant based on how badly this was handled.
On arrival the card machine wasn't working so took a little time to get this sorted, easy to order and plenty of seating. We sat in an alcove to the side. We were a party of 6. We all ordered and food came out in a fairly decent time. Fish was a large portion, gammon looked good, pork platter was delicious only gripes really are the fact that my mum had a large pin from the seat stab her, I upgraded to sweet potato fries and theu weren't given. The staff member was completely umbothered and said it was strange about the large pin and if i ordered off the app he doesnt understand it and walked off No apologies or attempts to rectify wrong order. Slightly annoying but 2 quid and the faff it would have been for the refund wasn't really worth it plus had a time limit. Would still return but would maybe speak up a bit more next time
We booked the Lawns today to hold a baby shower. Right from my first enquiry a few months back, Poppy and her staff were very helpful and responsive. We had free rein of the upstairs of the pub and were allowed to decorate and do our own thing respectfully. There were 23 of us and we all had a hot buffet, unlimited tea and coffee and a great dessert selection! I would 100% recommend and use again for any kind of gathering. The buffet was really good value for money. I would never have thought to host a baby shower in a pub but it came up as a suggestion on Google and ended up being a great day!!
Made a 4.15pm booking for Sunday Carvery. Got to the pub, carvery is off! They had ‘run out of meat’. Went to the bar to politely cancel the booking, only to find that they had no idea we had booked, despite the confirmation being emailed to me? Now I get an email asking ‘how did we do?’ Not very well to be honest. We went to the Wishing Well at Aspects Leisure Park, Longwell Green. Got there for 4.30pm, found three HUGE joints of meat available with over 10 different sides available and beautifully, freshly cooked. Guess it’ll be the Wishing Well from now on.
Had my aunty's 75th birthday party here yesterday evening, along with a carvery the following day. Brilliant, friendly pub. The food was delicious. Excellent service, great atmosphere and even allowed us to stay in the car park overnight. Thank you 😊
