Northfields Country House

We recently returned to Northfields House for another big family birthday. We all absolutely loved the house and we were able to enjoy the stunning gardens and pool in glorious weather. Thank you Alasdair and your amazing team, you’ve created a wonderful home, perfect for a family gathering with ages from an 8 month old baby to an 80 year old celebrating a birthday!

Our family group (17 adults from age 20 to 85, and a dog) absolutely loved our long weekend at Northfields. The weather wasn't great but it didn't matter, the squash court, swimming pool and table football were all greatly enjoyed. The kitchen is the best equipped of any house we have stayed in. The dining hall is perfect - right by the kitchen, a great atmosphere and room for everyone to eat together. Alasdair and team had even put fresh flowers and candles on the dining table, and flowers around the multiple sitting rooms too. It's very peaceful - there was an event at the nearby racecourse but we didn't hear anything from there. The outdoor terrace would have been wonderful for lunch outside if the weather had permitted. Everything about the house tells you it's a family home, not a corporate property. Lovely colour schemes and fabric choices in the living rooms, interesting pictures and ceramics on the walls. We all loved it so much I'm thinking of re-booking. My only reservation is that our 85-yr-old, who needs a stick to walk, found it challenging getting up and down stairs, and around the ground floor which has many steps. All the staircases only have a single bannister rail. She still loved the house - with a ground floor bedroom it would be perfection. The Slindon Estate, a 5 minute drive away, has extensive woodlands perfect for walking the dog.

Five stars from me for Northfields Country House! Just got back from an absolutely wonderful weekend with 18 friends celebrating my belated 50th. The house was the perfect setting, beds comfortable, kitchen very well equipped, clean and plenty of space for us all to enjoy it. The drawing room was a really cosy place to relax round the fire, we had canapes and drinks in the music room and a very elegant dinner in the large dining room. As we were very lucky with the weather sitting outside on the patio was glorious, enjoying the stunning grounds. Alasdair the owner went above and beyond to make everything perfect for us. After waiting over two years to celebrate my 50th, this weekend exceeded my expectations. Thank you Alasdair.

Beautiful manor house, loads of character with amazing grounds and room to spare. Only marking it down slightly as it's certainly starting to show wear and tear with some windows covered in duct tape whilst others have missing panes. Despite this, we are still planning a return visit

We were honoured to be invited to a friends 50th birthday weekend here. What a stunning house, we couldn’t believe how grand it was when we rolled up. A rabbit Warren of rooms on 3 floors and an eclectic range of furniture made for a very relaxing stay. We stayed in one of the largest bedrooms I’ve ever seen overlooking the beautiful & peaceful gardens. We were blessed with stunning weather too ( in March) and so were able to enjoy the outside spaces and had breakfast in the garden both mornings. Would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Alasdair for being so accommodating and lending us your house for a long awaited birthday celebration. Very happy memories 💕

Lovely stay, all warm and comfortable, beds easy to sleep in. Enjoyed the Aga in the kitchen. Great place to spend time with the whole family and still have a bit of "space"

Had a family holiday here in July. Lovely old place full of charm and history. Luckily the weather was perfect so we made full use of the swimming pool and facilities.
