The Story

My brother had his wedding here at the weekend. An absolutely stunning venue. The ladies conducting the ceremony were lovely too. They made everyone feel at ease (especially the main characters!)

Lovely place, we have booked our wedding here for next year, staff who met us were lovely and answered all our questions, we then had a lovely piece of cake and a cuppa in the cafe.

An appsolutly beautiful building and grounds, plenty parking ( free ) . The exhibition space gives a Snap shot of Durham's varied and fascinating history leaving you wanting to visit and findout more. Great Coffee shop too , what's not to like ?

My mother and I are researching our ancestry and the facilities here are brilliant. The digitised records are so much clearer than the old films we have previously used. The facilities are clean and well kept but most of all the staff are very helpful and go out of their way to answer your questions. The cafe has a limited menu but what they offer is very tasty. We are looking forward to returning to the story and the botanical gardens opposite 💕

Hey! I just had the absolute pleasure of photographing Becky & Mathew's wedding at The Story in Durham, and I have to say, I’m still blown away! If you’re thinking about a smaller, more intimate wedding, this place is a total gem. The light streaming through the windows is just magical, making every moment feel even more special, and let me tell you, it makes for some stunning photos! It’s honestly hard to believe this is a registry office. The space is elegant, full of character, and has such a warm, welcoming feel. It’s got that perfect mix of charm and style that really sets the tone for a beautiful celebration. Huge congrats again to Becky & Mathew for such a gorgeous day! Our son and fiancée had a meeting there with the registrar and we found the staff very helpful and friendly. They answered questions regarding the upcoming wedding and arranged for us to look at the rooms available for the ceremony. The grounds are lovely and we had a coffee in the cafe whilst waiting.

Absolutely fabulous registry venue, excellent staff. With a really nice light in the ceremony room it meets the photographers needs. The cafe is good with nice cakes and coffee
