Small but fascinating, a remnant of the famous cloth industry that made Exeter so wealthy back in the day. The female volunteer (whose name I didn’t catch!) was so detailed and passionate that it felt like I paid for a professional tour! Worth checking out if you’re into old buildings and history.
Fabulous. The guide was really great. So many words which we use from cloth!
Lots of history and the main hall and wagon ceiling is amazing.
Lovely olde world historical place I didn't even know existed. Can be rented out for gatherings and has a lovely intimate atmosphere. There are lots of historical things here from very old stain glass windows to lovely carved wood decorations. Lovely place to visit in the heart of Exeter
Tuckers Hall is home to The City of Exeter's important historic woollen cloth trade heritage. Dating from AD 1471 this stunning building has been constantly renovated, repurposed and even confiscated by a monarch through the centuries! But its original features still remain, including the 15th century roof timber and Jacobean panelling. Built originally as a chapel dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virigin Mary, over time it became the home of the Guild of Weavers, Fullers and Shearman of the city who regular held meetings here and worshipped in the chapel.
Brilliant tour and history. The volunteers very knowledgeable and helpful. Loved hearing about our history.
Great little gem. No entrance fee. The guides were very helpful.
