Lanark Memorial Hall

I went to a show at the theatre recently. As I was with a disabled friend we parked in what seemed to be the disabled spaces behind the theatre. I went into the theatre and asked if this would be OK. I was told technically no but the manager who was in a meeting would need to make the decision. The manager appeared smirking and said it was not possible. In fact she had not been in a meeting but had been smoking in a alcove outside the rear entrance. I would assess her attitude as rude, unhelpful and arrogant. Following a reply from the venu I am updating my review. The previous 3 star review also had concerns about disability access and assistance. I would also add a alcove in front of an entrance is not a suitable area for staff to take smoking breaks.

Upstairs seating is probably the most uncomfortable I’ve ever had the misfortune to endure. As a 6 foot man, I really struggled and had to put my legs into the aisle just to sit down. Terrible. Pity, it wasted an otherwise great show.

If you have a wheelchair or mobility issues. This is not a good venue. No disability session, no ability to tell them in advance, on the day you are stuck on an end row.

Lanark Memorial Hall theatre is a lovely venue brining theatre local and making shows more available for all. Unfortunately parking is very limited and although disabled accessible it's at the top of a very steep hill so not the easiest to walk to never mind push a wheel chair or rollator. A lift is available to each floor allowing you to sit in the bar before the show. Unfortunately there were no cafe facilities where we could get a tea or coffee. There were only 3 seats available in the waiting foyer with a lot of older and mobility impared people struggling to wait. A lot could be done with this venue but some changes are required.

Went to Lanark for the Stuart Mitchell comedy show with my wife and we both really enjoyed the whole experience. Show was fantastic and the venue is lovely, very nice size for a comedy show, not too far away from the stage but far enough to not be asked any questions by the comedian. Not our first time at the hall and certainly won't be the last.
