Lancaster House Hotel

Stayed at the Hotel on 12th June for one night for my Birthday.....with my sister from the NE and my 2 daughters over from The Netherlands. The lady on reception who checked us in was wonderful.... rooms lovely, clean and comfy.... we made use of the pool, hot tub, sauna etc... all making for a lovely relaxing afternoon. The evening meal in the restaurant was super tasty.... the only downside was that the one member of staff on duty seemed to be very slow with taking drinks & food orders and had to be constantly approached to ask.... (very few people in the restaurant at the time) ? Nevertheless.... the food was 5*... a good night's sleep and breakfast the next morning was just as tasty. Thankyou to all the staff who looked after us.. I had a super birthday treat too. 5* PS. Thankyou for my Birthday Card in my room on arrival

We visited the spa with dinner in the Sandamen Bar. (Having been to sister properties). Couldnt fault the value and service was great. I have never ordered a Hunters Chicken (not my goto, ) I probably never can again without being disappointed! Stuffed jacket potato, moist, delicious great quality chicken and crispy bacon. Im going back for French onion soup in the restaurant next time!!

This is a wonderful hotel, ideally situated for visitors to Lancaster University. Its greatest asset is its people, who are sincere and helpful. Like another reviewer, I thought the smart attire staff members wear helps take the customer experience here to another level. There was a lovely fire in the grate in the lobby, and breakfast was very good. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Complementary items in our apartment kitchen for guests staying longer and making full use of the facilities were very thoughtful. A heated towel rail in the bathroom was a nice touch. Unfortunately there were no mixer taps in my bathtub or basin. There was a nice note in my room explaining that upgrades are underway. The Lancaster House Hotel is clearly working hard to maintain a high standard, and in hospitality, this is everything. I will be back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Really lovely weekend stay and family gathering to celebrate our son turning 18! Reception staff extremely capable and friendly, great Sunday lunch with roasts and other options. Rooms excellent and they are quick to upgrade if space allows. Plenty of parking and a great breakfast where staff were working very hard. Thankyou. We’ll be back!

Lancaster House is a hotel with a genuinely big heart, even if the outside is currently having a bit of a bad hair day! The lawns are enthusiastically embracing a 'wild meadow' look, the roof is waiting patiently for a scrub, and the entrance has a charmingly retro, slightly daggy feel to it. Step inside, though, and the reception is beautifully kept. It’s pretty clear the bar and restaurant were the favourite children when the renovation budget was handed out—they look fantastic! The bedrooms, however, seem to have missed out on their allowance and are in desperate need of a little TLC and a fresh coat of paint. On the bright side, the bed was an absolute cloud; I slept brilliantly. The bathroom was more of a comedic adventure. The shower appears to have been custom-built for Hobbits—if you are even a fraction over 5 foot 4, get ready to practice your deep squats while shampooing! Meanwhile, the bathtub felt a little nervous holding water, and I was half-expecting to gently fall through to the floor below. What absolutely makes this hotel special, though, is the incredible team. The staff are absolute gems—kind, endlessly helpful, and eager to please. Combine that with a truly fantastic, delicious breakfast, and it's hard to stay mad at the quirky plumbing. While I wouldn't quite rate it 4 stars right now, nor say it entirely matches the price tag, Lancaster House has wonderful people and great food. It just needs a little bit of upstairs-and-outside love to match!"
