Retorrick Mill

Looking for somewhere to eat in Mawgan Porth and saw a sign for this place. It’s rustic and vintage and the food is incredible! I’m loathe to post the review because if it gets as busy as it deserves to,we might not get a table next time we go! The focaccia was the best I’ve ever eaten as were the meatballs and the houmous. The care and attention to detail with the vegetables meant that you don’t even need to have a meat dish as part of your meal. I’ve been to a few Michelin starred places and I would say the food here is on a par with some of them. Highly, highly recommended.

Quite simply, the Retorrick Mill serves the best food in Cornwall. Cooked with flare, passion and care by Freddie and his team, our evening meal was truly amazing. Original, clever, thoughtful and extremely tasty, all our dishes excelled beyond our expectations and way beyond their modest prices. Freddie assisted us with the chioce of dishes (a highly recommended move), which Erin served with a smile and very knowledgeable explanation. In a county boasting plenty of wallet-emptying Michelin starrred restaurants, the Retorrick Mill is an absolute gem, proving that locally sourced ingredients, combined and cooked with flare and served in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, do not have to cost the earth. We cannot recommended this place enough, a must for anyone wanting divine food, excellent service and a relaxing, post-dinner drink by the fire pit. Unquestionably worth the 5 minute drive from Mawgen Porth village centre. Thank you to Freddie and your amazing team.
