The Villa Wrea Green

My husband and I are happy to leave a review following our wedding reception at The Villa. The venue was beautiful and great care and attention was given to the layout and presentation of the Hall. The sit-down wedding breakfast was superb - many of our guests commented on how delicious, well cooked and well presented it was. Nikita and the staff are worthy of special mention, as they were professional, attentive and so friendly and helpful, both during organisation of the event and especially on the day. They helped make our wedding day so very special! I’m happy to recommend the Villa if you’re considering it as a wedding venue! The hotel rooms are also freshly decorated and very comfortable for anyone planning to stay!

Just back from a fantastic couple of days away at this hotel. After a few teething problems which were more to do with Hotels.com than the hotel but the hotel sorted we had a lovely couple of days here. The manager Caitlyn is fantastic, friendly, warm and professional. Her customer service is amazing and definitely a credit to the hotel. We were lucky to stay in the newly refurbished rooms which are both in keeping but modern and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice as was fresh and filling staff at breakfast worked hard to make sure everyone was happy. We ate in the hotel one night, for me the choice was great but rest of group felt more meat dishes were needed along with a better wine selection but the service by Lily was excellent and the gentleman at the bar really knew his bar and drinks. The hotel is under refurbishment but did not cause us any issues. You genuinely feel in the middle of no where but you are only a few miles (approx £7 in an Uber) from Lytham. Surrounding area is peaceful and just gorgeous. All in all a fabulous stay made even better by Caitlyn, Lily and all the staff.

The Villa is a beautiful old building and is the perfect setting for a wedding. With both inside and outside seating areas, there is a lovely calm feeling around the venue. We were guests at a wedding and everything was organised and friendly. We went straight to the bar then waited and waited. There was 1 member of staff doing her best to serve everyone but with approximately 10 people waiting to be served we did seem to wait an awful long time before it was our turn. The other (larger) bar in another room was similar, approx 25-30 people waiting to buy drinks but not enough staff to serve them I'm pretty sure that the wedding was booked well in advance so surely the staffing levels should have been sorted. This was the only thing that let the venue down. Beautiful building, superb surroundings, friendly staff but just not enough of them.

I am really sorry to do this but my partner and I came today for our anniversary and had to leave. We were not told that work was being undertaken and we're put in a block were the workmen were working, like a building site. The room hadn't been checked by the staff, it was shocking, as can be seen from the pictures. These rooms are not fit for guests and should be closed during the renovations. The staff were lovely and apologetic and I cannot fault them but our stay was ruined.

Been coming to The Villa for years. I don’t want to reflect on the serving staff who were trying their best, but the food last night was awful enough to make me write a review! Very disappointing to see how far the standards have dropped over recent years. It’s still a prime location that looks like it is investing in a refurb, but the main problem is the obvious use of really low quality ingredients that are such a detraction from everything else. We ordered simple food, so you’d think it’d be hard to get it wrong! The steak burgers (£17.95!) were such low quality "meat" that they tasted like the kind you’d get at a fairground, and came on dry buns with whatever "cheese" that was used reduced to a slimy residue. You would never guess from taste or sight that there was supposed to be cheese on it! We then noticed that the burger didn’t have the bacon mayo sauce on it that the menu stated, and when we asked for it they delivered a pot of the cheapest watery catering mayo with a couple of bits of chopped fatty bacon in it! Then the BLT came out on untoasted dry bread, with no mayo or moisture of any kind. It currently has a 4* AA rating, and I’d be staggered if The Villa maintains this if the reviewers came; I think this is a venue surviving on past glory and the predictable income of BAE Warton business stays. It’s no longer a venue you would choose to come and spend money at, nor will it be until they focus on making the quality of ingredients (and menu execution) match the rest of the place.
