My husband and I got married here in January 2026. My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer so we wanted to get married as quickly as possible been together 17 years but never got round to it. We requested the wedding be fast tracked and the registry office didn’t disappoint 10 days later we were saying our vows with Amelia. Amelia was absolutely fantastic, warm sincere and caring we couldn’t have had anyone better. Then the worst happened in may my husband died, I had arranged to register his death via telephone call then an in-person appointment only I got a call and an email from Amelia explaining she had seen that my husband had passed away and asked if I would like my appointment with her and I said yes. I just want to say that this was a relief to be able to do this with a friendly face and it just felt right that the person who married us would also be there at the end to register his death. Thank-you so much Amelia keep being you because you are a beautiful soul a real people person, caring and considerate and you made us feel so special.
Awful. Imagine ringing a register office for copy of a certificate and giving them the GRO number and them not being able to find it. That was my experience. And a certain Ms Gregg could possibly be the least helpful person I've ever had the sorry experience of dealing with. Luckily the lady at the General Register office was much more helpful.
My husband and I held our ceremony with Claire and Joanne and we had a fantastic time, the team were so helpful with our queries and put a wonderful ceremony together. We'll certainly remember our special day there
I went to register my baby birth, it was completed in less than 10 minutes of time. Friendly staff and approachable. You can book appointments online for a particular time slot and it saves you a lot of time. This palace has toilets with baby nappy changing facilities and disabled friendly entrances. This palace doesn't have a dedicated parking facilities for visitors.
Cant thank them enough. My wedding was cancelled unexpectedly and they booked us in for the same date, Lisa who works there was so kind, caring and empathetic. Forever appreciative. Im really glad it was Lisa who answered that call, she was the person I needed that day. Credit to your service.
My husband and I got married last month at Ecclesall Woods and the 2 registrars we had leading our ceremony did a beautiful job! They were so friendly and put us both at ease and calmed our nerves. They delivered the service with care and humour. Also, our appointment to give notice of marriage back in February was very easy and the registrar we had then (a different lady) was very friendly. Thank you so much for all you do!
I could scream! How can a bunch of people be so incompetent? I have been emailing them (apparently they don't answer the phone) for 3 weeks to try and arrange a suitable date for a registrar for our wedding... They are making the whole thing a nightmare. It takes them nearly a week to reply with an email that isn't even providing info on the requested dates. Then someone else responded to the same email telling me something totally different to what the original reply said! After painstakingly emailing over and over and over, I eventually agreed a date that was available with them and our wedding venue... So of course the next day they sent a "confirmation" email with a totally different date!! Seriously this is so stressful. I don't even know how they manage to make this process so difficult. I just want to ring someone, ask what dates are available then book and confirm a date so that we can plan our wedding day... Good luck if you're getting married in Sheffield, these clowns will give you the run around until you're about to pull your hair out! I wish we were getting married in Leeds, might be able to book a registrar without this much stress and hassle!
