Halfway House

Been here more than a few times now and never had a bad experience. The food is always so lovely and fresh. We have been as a large family group twice for the carvery on a Sunday which has been delicious. Very generous portions. We have booked again for this Sunday. The service is always lovely, very helpful staff and Kirsty is great, nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend 😁

Went this evening for a family meal to celebrate an 80th birthday, there were 10 of us. Booked at half 5 and was told we needed to order quickly as kitchen closes at 6pm…what pub closes their kitchen at 6pm? We ordered 9 carvery and 1 kids meal. The kids meal came within a few minutes of ordering. There weren’t enough Yorkshire puddings to go round us all, was told we couldn’t have any as they take 90 minutes to make… There were no mash or carrots, the broccoli was like mush and the cabbage was all dried up. Meat and pigs in blankets were cold. The gravy and roast potatoes were so salty. Most of us left a lot of our food. This wasn’t questioned by the staff. We didn’t get asked if we enjoyed our food or offered any additional drinks. Good job we brought our own cake as we weren’t offered dessert and we were still hungry! We won’t be back and I won’t be recommending Halfway House to anyone!

Staff were very welcoming as we didn't prebook book a table! Our 6yea bold was given a great selection of books, crossword and puzzles to keep him entertained whilst food was brought. Decent selection of kids meals which were very well portioned especially for the reasonable price.. Connor our waiter was very accommodating to check we had everything we needed and wanted. Me and my boyfriend came on the Sunday early evening (we often go out to eat on a Sunday for a roast) Paul who was the head chef greeted us and recommended the carvery. It did not disappoint! Probably the best carvery I’ve ever had dining out. A generous portion, the quality and taste of the meats were spot, a big selection of vegetables and the cauliflower cheese were tasty. Paul was delightful to talk to, I would definitely go again.

Great food, went in for food and, at Paul the chef’s recommendation, got the carvery. Super impressed, meat was beautiful and lots of it, huge choice of vegetables and sides - carverys are often hit and miss so really nice to find a brilliant one, will definitely be back, highly recommend - cheers to Paul and the team.
