The Citadel - Wedding Venue & Bed and Breakfast

We recently had the pleasure of holding our wedding celebration at The Citadel. The venue is absolutely breathtaking; we had our receptions drinks within the walled garden, garden games on the adjacent lawn and had the entire garden to entertain and explore. The marquee location is absolutely stunning with the views extending right out to the Shropshire hills and Wales. The accommodation (and breakfast!) was exceptional and the owners are such lovely people, we really didn’t want to leave! 10/10 from start to finish - we would recommend The Citadel to anyone. Also we LOVE Mabel!!!

Well what can we say?! Alex is absolutely amazing! From the start of our process until right after, Alex was incredible! She was so helpful, thoughtful and a problem solver from the minute we booked the citadel to the moment our wedding finished!! The venue is incredible and we are so glad we picked it! Set in beautiful grounds and a gorgeous backdrop, there was no other place to choose! We felt it was the perfect place to host our guests and we were correct! Our guests loved the venue, complimenting how stunning it was! The rooms are spacious and the beds so comfortable (We even bought the exact same mattress - again will the help of Alex!) I highly recommend this venue, not just for its stunning views, gorgeous landscape and amazing photo opportunities but also for the great host that is Alex! We would’ve been lost without her! Me and Ruth had our wedding celebration at the beautiful Citadel. Alex was the most welcoming and helpful host. I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone, you won’t be disappointed. Alex was so accommodating and allowed us to make our wedding our own, exactly how we wanted it. The B&B is first class, beautifully and tastefully decorated, clean, well stocked, private and quiet. The breakfast is to die for!

Stayed with friends here recently. Lovely approach to the most beautiful of properties set in stunning grounds. Warm welcome from Alex and Martin who showed us to our spacious, comfortable and meticulously thought out bedroom. The living areas are simply stunning with effortless attention to detail. Great place to meet up with friends, get a great nights sleep and a smashing breakfast the next day. Thank you!!

We celebrated our wedding reception at The Citadel and we could not have chosen a more beautiful venue for our big day. Alex went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect- from responding to my many emails with a thousand questions, clearing up nearly the whole marquee the following morning for us (and also cooking up a delicious hot breakfast all before 10am!), to travelling to Argos and asking around friends to get hold of an emergency second badminton net set up on the day of the wedding! Both Alex and Martin allowed us to visit the venue many times before the wedding, taking time with our families to show us around their gorgeous grounds and making us tea. The day was spectacular and our friends and families have not stopped talking about how stunning The Citadel is. We are so grateful for your kindness and support. From our very first visit, Alex knew the names and stories of every couple who had married there, which immediately showed how much she genuinely cares. She made us feel so welcome, and the whole experience felt like a home away from home. With only four bedrooms, the venue never feels overwhelming or crowded. Most of our guests stayed at a nearby hotel, which meant the Citadel remained a peaceful haven away from the usual wedding-day chaos. It provided the perfect setting to relax and enjoy every moment. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Alex. She gave us the freedom to make both our wedding and our stay truly our own, while offering support and guidance whenever we needed it. She went above and beyond in every way, and her warmth and dedication made our day even more special.
