Burghley House

We visited for cross country day at Burghley Horse Trials. A fabulous day. Very well organised entry and exit for the huge crowd. Parking easy and well signposted to help find the car again. Great facilities for an outdoor event. Plenty of catering all the way round and lots of stewards to help. commentary audible all the way round as well. Great quality action too with riders regularly passing us.

A beautiful house. Every guide in each room thoroughly enjoyed sharing their knowledge. It was a very visit. We had a warm cheese scone...very nice in The Orangery. I wouldn't have said the artisan bread was artisan! We had a lovely walk round the stunning gardens but it was too hot...32 degrees. So, we'll be back to do another visit.

Not bad, but it seems designed mainly for families with children. The section of the house open to visitors is nice, but small and rather repetitive. The accessible part of the garden is small too, and a large portion of it is given over to children’s play areas. Not the best value for money.

One of the great country houses to visit the place is immense with so many rooms , I was most impressed with the old kitchen with all it's copper pans & trays then least impressed with the snooker table they said it was a burroughs and watts but had a Thurston makers plate on it plus the joinery round the pockets was shocking but maybe that's me been ocd. Gardens were great and the staff throughout were amazing will definitely be going back .

Fabulous place to visit, great for families the grounds and car park were free so you can picnic and walk dogs play football, brilliant. The interior is incredibly impressive, especially the Tudor kitchens. The gardens are extensive and very innovative. We ate at the cafe/ restaurant, sitting in the lovely garden.
