Hotel Cromwell

We stayed here for a family Anniversary party and honestly apart from the room being quiet warm (we opened the window), simple solution it was beautiful. The family room was a good size and it was nice that our son was on a proper bed not just a sofa pull out. The shower pressure was amazing!! The food at the event was beautiful and the breakfast was exactly what you expect of a hotel buffet breakfast. Having read the negative reviews I think the people leaving them need to give their heads a little wobble this is a beautiful hotel, with polite staff and good quality food.

Beautiful hotel and the perfect venue for my book launch in August 2025. The staff were wonderful, the food was great and everything ran so smoothly. I spent the night there afterwards and my room was very comfortable. I also attend monthly networking meetings in the hotel and easy parking is a definite bonus. A lovely atmosphere every time I visit — highly recommend!

We recently used the Cromwell Hotel as the main base for our wedding weekend. As a logistical hub, it worked well—it was our primary pick-up and drop-off point for the guest minibus, and the lobby bar was a great spot for our guests to hang out between events. The room itself was nice, and we had a very enjoyable breakfast in the Rump and Wade. However, there were several massive disappointments during our stay. The biggest issue was the absolute lack of air conditioning. Our room was quite hot, and we had to leave the fan on for the entire duration of our stay just to attempt to keep it cool. We were also let down by the service options, specifically that they could not allow drinks to be brought up to our room. Logistically, there were a couple of frustrating hurdles. The car park is located around the back of the hotel—which I believe is due to the new tea room being constructed—meaning it was a quite a long route to haul our luggage to the room. Finally, a local festival caused a road closure right by the hotel, and we were only informed of this a day before our stay. Given how much planning goes into a weekend like this, we really would have appreciated being given that information much earlier. Overall, a nice looking venue with good food, but the lack of A/C and communication issues brought the experience down.
