Magda Kuca Photography-Wet Collodion Artist Studio London

Had a fantastic experience learning about wet plate collodion photography from Magda. She has such a wide understanding not only of the craft, but also of the history of all kinds of photography. With her cornucopia of personal examples it is easy to feel inspired in her space. Being able to take away a physical creation that I created with her guidance was so rad.

I had an incredible couple of days learning from Magda! Her studio is dreamy and she is so welcoming. I did a two day intensive course that she catered to me and I learned more in those two days than I did at university! Having a one on one session was really the key to understanding my camera and helped me to get better insight into what exactly I was trying to create. She is an encyclopaedia of knowledge in photography of all types and truly a gem! I would recommend taking a one on one course with Magda to anyone looking to get into detail about their own processes as she’s a great teacher who can really break things down for your understanding. She’s also an incredible artist and I feel so lucky to have gotten to know her and see her work up close. I am super grateful and can’t wait to take another course!

Magda provided a very friendly atmosphere for this first encounter with the tintype process. I appreciated her readiness to talk to a fellow creative, from a different branch of alt processes. I highly recommend her for approaching these techniques. And her studio is in SW London for once!

A two-day photography workshop with Magda was a well-invested experience. Not only did she cater the content specifically to my needs, including cyanotypes, wet plate collodion and darkroom etiquette, she more than fulfilled them by diving deeper into the history of photography and alternative processes, as well as providing useful tips on how to approach these skills on my own. In addition to having a warm, welcoming and jovial personality, Magda is a fountain of information and has had valuable experience as an artist and teacher in photography. Being Polish, she was able to help me source supplies I will need where I live, which coincidentally is Poland 🙂 If you want to explore the world of alternative photographic practice and have the opportunity to arrange a session with Magda, you will be very happy with what you learn and take from it. Magda Kuca's hands-on wet collodion workshop helped me understand how Julia Margaret Cameron produced her pioneering work with Victorian techniques. We spent hours in Magda's studio framing our shots and then carefully preparing the plates and fixing the images. Magda was a patient and expert guide through every step of the process. At the end it was a real thrill to hold in my hands the glass negatives we produced ourselves. I left with a lovely artifact from an engaging and informative afternoon.
