Stretford Canteen

Unfortunately disappointing, although the dishes look good the flavour wasn't there, a lot of the sauces were weak and flavourless in the ox tongue and trout dishes. The duck leg and lentils was really salty, and the duck confit was not as you would expect for confit - it wasn't crispy or fatty. The desserts weren't that good too, the pavlova was really sweet and the gooseberry dish wasn't baked fully. Nice atmosphere in there, but the food didn't hit the mark. I do love french food, and recently in Paris the food there is amazing even at restaurants of cheap-ish prices. This french inspired spot was missing some butter and love.

Delicious hot chocolate and the plum and cardamon cake was particularly nice! Lovely staff, very cute decor and chill welcoming vibe. I forgot to take a picture of the cake because I ate it all so quickly! I guess I'll have to come back for more 📸🍰

We just visited Stretford Canteen for the first time and honestly can’t recommend it enough. The food was superb and the service was equally fantastic. They went out of their way to make sure we still had a vegetarian option, even after the popularity of the dishes meant they were running low. Such a lovely atmosphere from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back.

Amazing food and service Tarragon mayo with bar nibbles amazing 👏 Bread omg never change it Pork starter really good Steak cooked perfect, only thing changed would make fat crispier Cod was wow amazing Hispi cabbage was so good Chocolate cherry chioux bun was superb like black forest gateux reinvented Wine selection amazing and organic natural wine special was great Cocktails also good balanced and made right to what should be Service by irish lady and guy with nice hair was great, always there and helpful, never change as you are amazing 👏

Been wanting to visit here for a while, finally went in Sunday for the fixed price menu. Overall the food was good , I'd really like to go back and try the normal menu. I had a prawn cocktail which was a classic and then venison pie. My partner had the Black pudding then cos for main. We shared a dauphinoise potato which you'll need a side as it doesn't come with one. The service was excellent and has a lovely vibe. It's quite pricey but you pay for quality.
