Great pub great food great staff. We've just had the pork Sunday dinner. Absolutely unbelievable. You can tell everything is freshly cooked. Pork was so tender. Thank you.

Visited twice over 7 days. I had the fish & chips with mushy peas. They were amazing 😍 my husband had the mince and dumplings - thoroughly enjoyed our meals

Brilliant pub , with delicious food and entertainment . Tony you have done a fantastic job since purchasing the pub and getting some great chefs , staff and a great Manager . Highly recommend

Just came down for tea with my Nana and friend and had a lovely meal. I cannot fault the place as the service was fast, friendly and efficient.

I’ve been to The Lord Nelson for food before and had a lovely experience, but after last night I’d say my feelings are a bit mixed. There were five adults and two children in our group, although two adults and one child paid separately. The four of us together ordered three burgers — a Nelson burger, a standard burger, and a chilli burger — and a children’s nuggets and chips. The food took longer than expected to arrive. When it did, we were told the chilli burger had come out without the sauce, so it was taken back to the kitchen. The rest of us received our meals, but my girlfriend’s food didn’t arrive until around 8–10 minutes later. While eating, my girlfriend’s mum mentioned her burger was cold and asked if mine was the same. The chips were piping hot, but when I tried my burger, that was cold too. It still tasted nice, but it definitely wasn’t hot. When my girlfriend’s replacement burger finally arrived, hers was also cold. It seemed like the hot holding area (the pass) might not have been keeping the food warm properly, because the chips were fresh and hot — just not the burgers. Elsewhere at the table, my girlfriend’s brother — who ordered after us — received his corned beef pie, which was extremely hot, but his partner then had to wait another 10 minutes for her pizza. As a baker, I know pizzas typically only take around 8 minutes in a proper pizza oven, so the delay was a bit confusing (though I don’t know what oven they use). To be fair, the staff member serving us was very apologetic throughout, and we appreciated that. It just would have been better if all the meals had come out together and at the right temperature. I hope the timing issues can be sorted, and if there are equipment problems, that they get resolved. This is an honest review — the food itself is tasty, so I wouldn’t say don’t go. It just wasn’t the best experience for us on this occasion.
