We had a Celebration of Life gathering following the funeral of my Father yesterday, and the service and food were outstanding. Particular thanks to Chris for being so efficient, courteous and prompt with his service to all those attending. He regularly took drink orders for at least 40-50 people but nothing was too much trouble for him, as he quickly and regularly returned with a tray full of drinks. Thank you very much for providing a perfect venue and excellent customer service which in turn helped make a difficult occasion far more enjoyable. .
We were just looking for somewhere to get a light bite in the morning and popped in here. The ambience is a cut above many of the hotels I have stopped at. The waitresses were cleanly attired with white pinafores and the restaurant had equally clean linen tablecloths with tableware neatly set out. We sat outside undercover where one could purchase bacon rolls and the like for a light breakfast. The tea pot was big enough for three cups which was quite refreshing to find. The hotel had pleasant bar areas and the toilets were spotless. It is a popular place to stop for a refreshments plus a relaxing place to meet friends. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Many thanks.
Wonderful hotel. Lovely staff so very cheeful and helpful. (special mention: Poppy!) Great rooms, instant hot water, great showers. Plenty of space downstairs to stretch, wonderful breakfasts and wonderful scones. Evening dining is the only disappointment. Lack of choice + food not up to the same standard as the breakfast. Sorry but had to be honest.
We live nearby, so I can't comment on the hotel or rooms. I can comment on the bar though! The Bridge does the best cocktails in the area. We love the quality of them and the unique twists on some old classics. We go there often because they offer a friendly service and great choice. I would definitely recommend mixologist Ben's new creation, it's an Old Fashioned with a twist, try it and see if you can guess what's new, you'll love it!
If I could leave a 0 I would. Such a disappointing, overpriced, poorly serviced restaurant. We waited 1hour 45 minutes to get our food, after having to chase up on it. The restaurant was hardly busy to wait this long for the most average food I have had in a long time. I had a hair in my starter, besides that it tasted sour and gone off (the asparagus tart) our mains the. Finalllllly arrived and tasted like yesterday’s dinner re microwaved. I’ve never had a potato that’s in edible to this degree. We had to receive the menus ourself as no one served us for 20 minutes, finally hollered someone to order who then advised it’s the wrong menu, they then waited a further 20 minutes before returning to take our order again. The staff are all clearly very young and just trying to do their job or learn on the job, we also did not feel it worth while to give them the scathing review in person and put them though that. The restaurant, chef and owners need to make big changes, £35 for a Sunday roast dinner after waiting 1.45 minutes is unacceptable. We watched another table eat their starter, mains, coffee, and receive their desert before we had been served anything. It was quite shocking to witness, we were not the only table unimpressed as we could hear near by coupes complaining about the food and service. Do not recommend going here.
We've visited before, but this time was truly exceptional. Will's wine knowledge is extraordinary—every suggestion he made was spot on, perfectly complementing our meal. His service was impeccable from start to finish, attentive without being intrusive. Thank you, Will, for making our evening so memorable. You're a genuine credit to the business. We'd recommend this place to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience - we look forward to visiting again next week.
I was disappointed with the meal that we had here. The evening didn't start fantastically as it took around 20 mins for us to receive our drinks. We ordered cocktails which I understand take a time to make but 20 minutes is far too long. On top of this the restaurant committed what I consider to be a cardinal sin of service when they served us food before drinks had been delivered to the table. At this point I chased the drinks with the waiter who duly followed up and reported back in a timely fashion to tell me the drinks would arrive shortly which they did. The food and flavours were average. Everything was under seasoned and missing the je ne sais quoi I would associate with the price tag. I ordered the lamb chops for a main which were simply lamb chops, sardines with a Salsa Verde and no other accompaniments. When visiting a good restaurant, I expect a dish that is crafted to give me an experience. I'd rather pay more for a well thought out dish than a pick and mix of side dishes that have been cobbled together and designed to be mildly complementary to the majority of dishes on the menu. This was probably the most disappointing thing about the meal for me. The restaurant setting itself is beautiful and the staff I interacted with were lovely but this doesn't make up for what I perceive to be below standard food and didn't meet my expectations. I would try the restaurant again but only if the menu is reconsidered to include well thought out dishes.
