Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel

Spent an hour or so here enjoying a relaxing drink on the terrace of the Jacobean bar. It was a quiet Tuesday still relatively busy, sun was out. The service was impeccable Logan and Katrina providing excellent customer service. Full marks! Chatty, professional snd very customer focussed! Will return

Lovely evening stay using the Manor Madness offer. £60 for the evening (£30 towards evening meal and the rest for breakfast) Amazing! A newly refurbished room, lovely welcoming reception. The food absolutely gorgeous and the breakfast set you up for the day with a variety of continental and hot breakfast.

I booked a night there to take a break from busy family life and recharge in the quiet. The staff was lovely upon booking, and check in process. Check in was at 1pm which gave me plenty of time to relax in my suite (it was a deal I found online suite+ dinner + breakfast for £125). I asked during booking if the chef could accommodate my diet which is unfortunately quite restricted at the moment and was told they would be able to put something together but to ask at the restaurant directly. The suite was lovely at first sight. Then I got surprised by the fact there was only 1 place to plug the kettle as well as anything I'd want to charge, unless I unplugged lamps. I noticed that in many places the paint was coming off, or rushed painting job in the bathroom...which is not really important but at the standard Rogerthorpe want to be, it is not ideal. Suddenly it started smelling like fried fish in the whole suite and that is because the roof windows were open. So I had to climb on a very flimsy stool to close them...only for the temperature to then raise considerably in the suite. Anyway, dinner time...I asked upon being seated if I could have just the vegetables side (it is on the menu!!) with maybe a bit of boiled rice. After many attempts at serving other things that did not take my restrictions into consideration (even though we spent a good amount of time listing everything with the waiter), i insisted that the side of vegetables would be just fine for me. I got served a bowl of rice with carrot pieces and peas...I felt like it was dog or baby food, not sure which one. I was upset but hungry so I hate and asked for a plate of fruits to take to the suite for my dessert. I feel that the chef should have more knowledge about allergies/special diets. My breakfast was made of fresh fruits only as at that point I did not feel like asking for anything else that would result in waiting again for disappointment. As for my good night of sleep....the bed and pillows were dreadful and I got woken up at 4:30am by deliveries (jumped out of my skin) and again at 5ish am. Not a great experience all in all, but at least I got quiet time in the afternoon and managed to read!
