A 1689 civic masterpiece steeped in royal weddings and famous legend! The Guildhall w Windsorze on High Street is an absolute must-see historic town hall completed in 1689 by Sir Christopher Wren and Sir Thomas Fitch. Beautifully built in red brick and Portland stone, it features historic statues of Queen Anne (1707) and Prince George (1713). Underneath, in the old open corn market, you can inspect the famous interior columns—legend says Wren built them two inches short of the ceiling to prove to nervous councillors that his structure didn't need them! Famous in modern times as the venue for King Charles III and Queen Camilla's 2005 wedding, it's a brilliant piece of British architecture just a short walk from Windsor Castle.
Windsor Guildhall is an absolutely beautiful and historic landmark located right in the heart of Windsor. The architecture is stunning, full of character and rich English history, making it one of the most impressive buildings in the town centre. Standing outside and looking at the elegant design instantly gives you a sense of the importance and heritage of the area. The location itself is perfect, surrounded by charming streets, traditional shops, cafés and only a short walk from Windsor Castle, which makes the whole experience even more special. The atmosphere around the Guildhall feels lively yet very classic and peaceful at the same time. One of the things I loved most was how well preserved the building is. Every detail, from the columns to the historic features, makes it feel timeless and incredibly photogenic. It is definitely worth stopping to admire even if you are simply walking around Windsor for the day. A fantastic place for history lovers, photography enthusiasts or anyone wanting to experience a traditional part of British heritage. Windsor itself is beautiful, but the Guildhall is one of the highlights of the town. Highly recommended for visitors and tourists exploring the area.
Windsor Guildhall is such a beautiful and elegant historic building right in the heart of Windsor 🏛️ The architecture is absolutely lovely, with so much classic charm and character that instantly catches your attention while walking through the area. It adds so much to the atmosphere of Windsor and feels like one of those landmarks that quietly reflects the town’s rich history and heritage. Definitely worth stopping by and admiring while exploring Windsor. ✨
We have been fortunate enough to shoot a few weddings in the beautiful Guildhall, and apart from the beauty of the space, how queer friendly it is, the registrars are consistently some of the most lovely we have worked with. Absolutely recommend to any couples looking for beauty, history, inclusivity and friendly registrars!
As a wedding photographer, I can confidently say Windsor Guildhall is in the perfect location for unforgettable photos. Just a short walk away, you’ll find amazing backdrops like Windsor Castle and the iconic Changing of the Guard. I know all the best local spots for capturing those picture-perfect moments, and this venue ties everything together perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a truly memorable and elegant celebration – LHT Photography, Lauren.
It was my pleasure to shoot Teddy & Ally's wedding at your beautiful venue! Thank you for the professional staff and amazing interior.
We wanted to go to Windsor castle but it was closed. As in life, the best things happen to us by chance... So, traveling around we found this place as a "okay, let's go in and see" but after a quick look, the lovely stuff that are voluntary there offered us 5£ tour. We had one of the most interesting tour with behind the scenes story's. This is the place where Elton Jones got married, so as Charles and Camille. Highly recommend
