Had a lovely 3 day stay . The grill was unbelievable their food so definitely go in there again olive tree could be a bit better as a vegetarian there was not many hot food options there I just had to have fruit and pancakes. I know there is a vegetarian option but it's on the actual menu and I didn't know how long that would take to be ordered .The room I had was lovely and the bed was really comfortable I never sleep when I go in hotels but this bed was just amazing I miss the bed As you go into the changing room areas the jacuzzi in their right by the steps there are some tiles missing and it is very sharp someone just needs to look at that. The Pool area very nice the pool was warm enough. I think the towels need to be looked at and the dressing gowns my mum's dressing gown was ripped they feel very rough And the towels are too small for the Pool area but the ones in the bedrooms for the bathrooms are big enough. Overall had a very good stay
If you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, avoid this place. Celtic Manor feels less like a luxury retreat and more like a commercialised machine focused on high-volume corporate events, weddings, and golf trips. The Room & Breakfast: To give credit where it’s due, the King Deluxe room was nice, and the breakfast was very comprehensive with plenty of choice. Buffet though. The "Spa": Complete letdown. The 90-minute spa slot felt like sitting in a noisy hotel pool packed with children. It does have a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, but there is zero relaxing or romantic atmosphere. Hidden Fees & Overpricing: £25 per night just to park as an overnight guest is absolute nonsense. On top of that, drinks are priced at a premium, and an automatic 10% tip is tacked onto the bill every single time. Billing: errors in the bill, missed upgrade requests and no personal touches or meditation. It’s essentially Center Parcs for the slightly more wealthy. Save your money if you're after a peaceful couples' break—there are far better boutique options out there.
In all honesty, ended up here because we couldn’t get suitable tee times at The Belfry but so glad we did. Stayed for 1 night and played 2 rounds (Twenty Ten & Roman Road) blessed with great weather and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Service in the bars and restaurants was great, ate at The Grill - straight forward good quality food. The courses were excellent, some great touches such as shuttle service around the resort, complimentary bag tag after playing the Twenty Ten and more. To top it off, both of us in the party won a free round of golf after entering a little comp on the 10th hole on the Twenty Ten. Happy days. Will definitely be back (would be even without the free round).
We decided to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at The Celtic Manor, from the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by the staff. Everything was explained in detail . We had booked a Signature Room on the 6th floor, which was extremely comfortable, lovely views also included in our room was a bottle of wine, waters and Welsh cakes. My husband is a wheelchair user and throughout the stay he found all areas easily accessible and the staff helped to move chairs for him to access the tables. We decided to have lunch in Merlin’s Bar, plenty of choice and once again extremely friendly staff especially Mohamed. In the evening we went to The Olive Tree and had wonderful food. After dinner we went back to Merlin’s bar for a nightcap and were entertained by a singer/pianist, it was really lovely end to a perfect day. If you book a room on the 6th floor you also have other benefits for example a dedicated lounge area with free tea and coffee plus a sweet treat, between 4 - 6 pm you can have a free alcohol drink each. There is also a dedicated Breakfast Room for our floor, the choice of food at breakfast was really good.
I visited Celtic Manor for a birthday spa day and unfortunately came away with very mixed feelings. The massage was excellent. My therapist was lovely, professional and genuinely very good at what she did, and I would absolutely return for a massage because that part of the experience was wonderful. The lunch and service, however, were extremely disappointing and really brought down what should have felt like a special spa day. The food was served as a cold bento-style box, including cold salmon, which I personally really didn’t enjoy. When I mentioned it, I was simply told that this was how it was served. There were also several issues with the service. My husband asked for his salad without balsamic vinegar, but instead he was given no salad at all. He later went back to ask for it and it still never arrived. We generally felt that the staff were not listening to us or particularly attentive. Most unpleasantly, the gentleman serving our food gave a small cough directly over my food while placing it down, which was very off-putting. For somewhere with Celtic Manor’s reputation, the lunch experience felt surprisingly shabby and not at the standard I expected, particularly when it was part of a birthday spa celebration. I would happily come back for the treatments, because the massage was genuinely excellent, but based on this experience I would not choose the full spa-day package again.
We had an overall great experience at The Celtic Manor Resort. The staff were extremely friendly and any minor issues or inconveniences we had they were there to resolve them instantly! Our room AC was working immaculately after the filter was changed within the first hour of being there. The room was clean and spacious. Next time, I recommend booking their signature rooms/floor for a more luxurious stay. Activities? So many you could do here! You can’t run out of them! I also walked their forest trail early in the morning and that was a lovely experience too! We loved their pool, sauna and steam facilities too! We used all of them every day! Things they could do better? - They need to fix their 3rd lift asap! Three lifts already don’t seem enough considering how many visitors they have. Two lifts currently working means it took ages to get to your room or out of your room. Very inconvenient. Also, it meant that when you did use the lift, it’s likely you were there with 7 more people. Felt like London Rush hour Tube. - Parking? Come on! Why would you be charging for parking per day for your guests that pay £200+ per night. Surely that’s not right. If you were a hotel in the middle of town, I get that. People could get to you by other means or most of your visitors are tourists with no cars? Here… you definitely have most of your visitors drive to you, you are next to the motorway after all. Charging for parking to your overnight guests gives your guests a negative image. Lastly, being the last thing they will do before they leave your premises; surely that’s not how you want them to remember you about their experience here! Thank you for an overall great experience! This was very close to being a faultless experience!
We recently held the inaugural Agency Challenge Cup, bringing together 28 property professionals from The Guild of Property Professionals and Fine & Country for three days of competitive golf at Celtic Manor Resort, and it proved to be a fantastic choice of venue. From an organiser’s perspective, the whole event ran extremely smoothly. The staff were professional, welcoming and incredibly accommodating throughout. A particular mention must go to Matt Tabor, whose personal involvement and support both before and during the event was greatly appreciated. The private dining rooms allocated to our group worked brilliantly, the food was excellent and the buffet-style dining was particularly well suited to a corporate golf event like ours. Despite the recent weather, the golf courses were in terrific condition. The greens in particular were superb and received plenty of praise from our players. Playing three different Celtic Manor courses over the event also made for a genuinely memorable golfing experience. We were equally impressed with the wider hotel and resort teams. Nothing seemed too much trouble and, when assistance was required, situations were handled very professionally. Most importantly, Celtic Manor provided exactly the environment we wanted: a prestigious venue for a serious but hugely enjoyable corporate golf competition, bringing together two major networks within the UK property industry. The first Agency Challenge Cup was a tremendous success, and Celtic Manor played a huge part in that. A sincere thank you from everyone representing The Guild of Property Professionals and Fine & Country. Highly recommended for corporate golf events — we hope to be back.
