The Alfriston Hotel, South Downs

An impromptu visit to help the hotel owner, management and estate manager to manage their trees 🌳 allowed me to stay in this beautiful hotel. My wife spent the day being pampered while I inspected the trees for obvious hazards to provide management recommendations to mitigate any risks. I applaud their proactive approach and the care they showed to these environmental assets 😁 The hotel is in a stunning location. The borrowed landscape of the South Downs provided a gorgeous backdrop. The hotel garden is work in progress growing their own fruit and vegetables to garnish the food we ate. Talking of which it was all just beautiful. The staff were outstanding. Each and everyone so attentive making this 5* retreat effortlessly run for the benefit of a stress free stay. From James in Estate Management, Susan the hotel manager to Gabi who seemed to be everywhere and always on hand to make a coffee ☕️ and all the men and women who were just full of life and happiness 😊 We have had a great stay in a heritage room (upgraded on arrival-can't fault the service) with quaint surroundings. Loved it! Thank you 😊

The perfect retreat for a much needed short break. Beautiful decor. Friendly attentive staff. Gorgeous spa. Lots of treats included, which was lovely. Great menu and delicious food. We loved it!! Can't wait to come back.
