This is a truly amazing place to come and watch the world go by! The food is spectacular, the beef just pulled apart (watch the video shared) the staff are wonderful and the setting/scenery is fabulous. We only came for Sunday lunch but have already planned to come back and hopefully for a vineyard tour, wine tasting and stay over night. It is dog friendly and there is a designated doggy friendly seating area, woodland walks (including poop bins) at no extra costs. If you love good food, good drinks and good scenery, then this is a must for you!
We had a fantastic dining experience at Roots Restaurant at Llanerch Vineyard. We started with marinated Gordal olives and crispy whitebait with lemon and garlic aioli to share—both simple but full of flavour. For starters, the smoked mackerel & whisky pâté was rich and beautifully balanced, while the grilled halloumi with beetroot houmous and toasted seeds was fresh and vibrant. The highlight was definitely the fillet steak—served with triple cooked chips, garlic butter, watercress and a Perl Las sauce. Paired with a vineyard Chardonnay, it was exceptional. Easily the softest, most tender steak I’ve ever had. Desserts were just as impressive: warm freshly baked madeleines with lemon citrus icing and vanilla ice cream, alongside delicate macarons—an excellent way to finish. A really memorable meal in a lovely setting—highly recommended.
Enjoyable meal at Roots Restaurant today. The food was tasty, although it could have been served a little hotter. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Overall, a lovely dining experience.
Had a starter and main for £30 lunchtime offer. The food was as good as I have had anywhere. Fresh, and delicious. Fantastic setting, and the staff were fabulous. Have already recommended to our friends, and will be returning for sure.
After attending a wine tasting at Llanerch Vineyard we stayed for dinner at Roots and it was a lovely way to end the evening. The restaurant has a relaxed but refined atmosphere with views over the vineyard, making it a great choice for a special occasion. It’s definitely on the pricier side but the quality of the food and the care that goes into each dish made it feel worthwhile. We started with the breaded cod cheeks and the potted devilled crab. The cod cheeks were a real highlight with a perfectly crisp coating and soft, delicate fish inside. The laverbread and smoked ham added plenty of savoury depth without overpowering the fish. The devilled crab was rich and smooth with a pâté-like texture, while the piccalilli vegetables and slice of lemon brought just the right amount of sharpness to balance everything. For mains I had the breaded chicken breast stuffed with black garlic butter. The chicken was juicy and the garlic butter added plenty of flavour without dominating the dish. We also had the pan-seared hake which was beautifully cooked and paired really well with the romesco, sautéed potatoes, gremolata and brown butter. The sides are well worth ordering too. The triple-cooked chips with Parmesan and truffle were crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle and properly indulgent. The samphire, leek and chilli was packed with flavour and ended up being one of our favourite dishes of the meal. For dessert I chose the passion fruit, mango and basil bavarois. It was beautifully presented but the passion fruit was a little too sharp for my taste, so I’d probably try something different next time. The other desserts looked fantastic and I’d definitely be tempted to order one of those on a return visit. Overall it was a really enjoyable meal with confident, seasonal cooking and great attention to detail throughout. The quality speaks for itself and I’d happily return.
