The Queens Hotel Portsmouth

Lovely building well placed for the GP sailing. Karen on the dining room in the evening was very helpful and service and food were very good, however, on both morning breakfast was a shambles. One breakfast out of two came but the other seemed to be a real problem and finally came after nearly an hour! Decaf coffee was awful so we had to pay for a decaf americano from the bar. Both mornings were a struggle for service which really spoiled the start to the day. Also for some reason you can’t order a drink at the bar and charge to your room despite leaving credit card details at reception on checking in!!

Love the place. A great hotel great staff beautiful views from our room to the sea. food was lovely it was a perfect. fish and chips it’s dog friendly we booked into here as we had a long day we come to Portsmouth from St Malo 8 hours on the Brittany ferry ⛴️ it was built 1861 had some famous people Winston Churchill Joan Collin’s queen Elizabeth the 1st general Eisenhower to name but a few to many to mention

We recently celebrated our wedding at The Queens Hotel and I can honestly say the staff made it unforgettable. A special thank you to Zuzanna and Alice from the events team, who were absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Their attention to detail, calm approach, and genuine care ensured everything ran seamlessly. They truly went above and beyond. We also had a fantastic bartender with us all day in the Libby Room, who kept everyone smiling and well looked after – a real credit to the team. In fact, every member of staff we encountered was warm, professional, and couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing was ever too much trouble, which made the whole day feel effortless and incredibly special. If you’re considering The Queens for a wedding or special event, you’ll be in very safe hands.

This is a beautiful hotel, yes it costs more than a travelodge, but it IS superior. Beautiful hotel, inside and out, such lovely staff, cannot do enough to help. Perfect location, we enjoyed seafront walks, walked to the Historic Dockyard and the Kings Theatre. The restaurant serves top end dining. The bar is comfy with jazz music playing. The bar does bar food too, classier than most. They have regular musicians of a very good standard. Definitely coming back, loved it.
