Rathfinny Wine Estate - The Flint Barns & Rathfinny Cottage

Had a great time visiting. Even though slightly hard to get to via public transit, the instructions on their website were great and all the taxi firms were super quick to send someone. Tina showed us around the free tasting, really loved her explanation on the history behind and the techniques used at this big estate. Would recommend for a beautiful countryside wine experience

Beautiful setting, great restaurant and the wine tour and tasting was really well run. Our room was The Rails which was small but well furnished with lots of amenities. The only issue is it is at the top of the building and there is no air conditioning. There is a fan but the temp in room was 26-27C throughout, outside around 21C (but with hot sun).

Spent a night here - all the staff were incredibly friendly, the restaurant was very good (and catered v well for dietaries) and the surrounding vineyard is absolutely gorgeous. Everything has been done to a very high standard. There’s a lovely shared lounge area in the barn. I’m surprised at some of the negative reviews re the restaurant and service - the food I had was of high quality and service was excellent. Note that it’s not suitable accommodation if you are a light sleeper- we could hear the plumbing from all the surrounding rooms so whenever anyone used the taps etc there was a loud rushing sound (they provided earplugs for this but they didn’t really help. Other than that, it was a perfect stay.

Marvellous setting. Disappointing service and mediocre food. When we arrived on a beautiful warm night we hoped to have drinks outside in the courtyard. I was very much discouraged by the waitress who reluctantly said we could if we were early, but we must be in at exactly the time of our booking as there were two sittings (there were not). There were no candles or flowers or anything to make the most of the beautiful yard and we were dragged in to our table after ten minutes. Food was varying. It was mostly just ok. However I had pasta in a broth which had clearly been left to keep warm somewhere resulting in the pasta that was not submersed being dry and hard. Other dishes looked nicer such as the pork chop and lamb. We asked the waitress about events such as dining in the vines and picnics and she was very discouraging. She wasn’t sure that any of these events still occurred. There were not many people there and no sign of two sittings. We felt tolerated but not welcome. It’s such a fabulous place but it needs a change of staff and some enthusiasm otherwise I fear it will close.
